There's nothing as overwhelming and draining as working very hard and at the end of the year there's little or no results to show for it.
Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Dangote and the likes all have 24 hours just like you and I. What do they do with their 24 hours that positions them to achieve super levels of productivity and results that most people don't achieve?
In this post I'm going to be talking about 3 exclusive productivity secrets of super achievers. Applying the last point alone consistently can 10x your productivity:
1. They engage a daily morning ritual that positions them for peak performance.
How you start your day goes a long way in determining how productive you will be throughout the remaining part of your day. Scientist have discovered that your subconscious mind is most impressionable during the first few hours just after you wake up.
What ever you engage in and feed your mind during this period goes a long way to affect the spirit of your day.
There's a rule I teach, which I call the 10/20/10/20 Rule. It's a simple rule that helps you begin your day like a super achiever and position yourself for a productive day.
During the first 10 minute just after you wake up, thank God for the gift of a new day, make positive affirmations and speak into your day.
For the next 20 minute, do something that requires you to move your body and makes you sweat. You could take a walk, do pushups and so on. Take a cold bath afterwards. This will cause your brain to release dopamine and serotonin, brain chemicals that motivates and excites you.
The next 10 minutes should be for planning your day and the last 20 minutes should be for feeding your mind with powerful information.
2. They major on the major and minor on the minor
The difference between super achievers and under achievers is not what they do, but what they do not do. Super achievers only do what is necessary. Under achievers struggle to do everything.
There is a principle called the Pareto's 80/20 principle.
A very vital rule for productivity that states that only 20 percent of the things we do account for 80 percent of the results we achieve and the remaining 80 percent of the things we do account for only 20 percent.
The key to being a super achiever is to focus on the vital few activities that contribute the greatest value to your life, career or business.
One strategy you can employ to achieve this is the Robin Sharma's 90/90/1 Rules.
It simply states that you spend 90 minutes of your day, everyday for the next 90 days engaging the number 1 most vital activity that contributes the greatest value towards achieving your goals.
3. Be disciplined
Super achievers are disciplined people. It takes discipline for you to successfully practise the first two secrets.
The difference between successful people and unsuccessful people is that successful people do what they have to do, when they have to do it, whether they feel like it or not.
Self discipline is the bridge your goals and its accomplishment.
You will never achieve anything worthwhile in life without self discipline. It connects where you are to where you desire to be.
It was the great philosopher Plato who shared that, "The first and most important victory in life, is the victory over self."
Forget about conquering the world if you cannot conquer self.
